Electrifying Tower Grove: Where to Start

Here in Tower Grove, we love our neighborhood and our historic homes—all 12,700+ of us in our beautiful old houses. That's why we're starting Power Grove: neighbors helping neighbors upgrade their homes with modern electric appliances that work better and cost less to run.

It’s simple, really:

  1. Share what we know to make smart upgrades easier.

  2. Keep sharing.

  3. Repeat until every home in Tower Grove feels a little smarter."

While we treasure our homes' character, we also want lower utility bills, better air for our families, and more comfort through St. Louis's crazy weather. By switching to electric and working together, we can make these improvements easier and more affordable for everyone in our community.

Take Adam and Liz—they're keeping everything they love about their 1904 home while saving up to $400 a year on bills. Their heat pump water heater fit perfectly where their old electric one sat. Hot water flows whenever they need it, all hours and all year long—but now it's 4x cheaper and has paid for itself in two years. Their son loves helping cook on what he calls their "magic stove," their new induction range that heats pans in seconds but keeps the kitchen cool (a magic trick you didn't know you needed).

We get all the hot water we need, when we
need it. I guess the only thing that has gone
down, is our electric bill.

Sound ambitious? Maybe. But it's really just about making it easier for every family in the Grove to make smart electric upgrades. We've found there are some amazing rebates available right now, but figuring out how to use them can be tricky.

So we’re going to try and make it simple: sharing what works, empowering people to talk with their trusted local contractors, and helping our neighbors make changes that make sense for their homes and budgets.
